NotesHistory of EQAtlas"Muse, the creator of the original EQAtlas.com and author of all the maps, stopped creating maps for the site during the Planes of Power era (his last map being the Plane of Knowledge). Eclipsed by the in-game cartography system introduced in the Legacy of Ykesha expansion, the atlas slowly faded out of use as the years progressed. Muse continued to provide minimal updates to the site, including posting of several in-game maps upon user request. The last time he updated the site was in Feburary of 2005. "Sometime in the autumn of 2009, some internal coding for the advertisements on the site seemed to break. Every page began to display unsightly code-related output and it appeared that the site was on its last legs. Unfortunately, this was true... and the original EQ Atlas site went down in full, sometime in early November of 2009." -- quoted from EQ Mac Wiki Changes from the OriginalThis is a faithful re-creation of the original EQ Atlas site, which was created and hosted by Muse many years ago. Most of the maps are identical to those found on the original site. A few of the maps are different, particularly some of the later Planes Of Power maps (there were no originals by Muse). Also, some of the maps do not contain all of the extra data that Muse sometimes included, regarding the mobs and loot and so forth for a given zone (some of that data has been lost). All of the maps are fairly accurate, however. This duplicate is based upon a full download of the site that I did several years ago. The maps on this site are essentially complete, up to and including the Planes Of Power maps. There are no maps beyond that expansion -- as was the case with the original EQ Atlas site. - Tessera - 2012 |
