Saw that ad the other day. Hard-hitting and utterly true. And perhaps less likely to be dismissed by viewers BECAUSE it was produced by a Republican group, rather than "libruls" who could be dismissed out of hand. ;)

The virus simply represents a push from the outside, that Trump is incapable of dealing with properly. It could have been anything... a virus, a war, a natural disaster, whatever.

Some people are true leaders and can rise to the occasion, when bad things happen. When 9/11 happened, even a bonehead like Bush was able to show that he had strong leadership qualities.

But not Trump. He's weak, he's a phony, he's a coward and he's a failure. Times like these test people... and Trump has clearly failed that test.

So how do we handle this..?

I'll tell you how we handle it... we put Bernie Sanders in the White House. That's how we handle it. Bernie has been warning us about things like this for decades and now, it's happening. Unbridled corporate capitalism has turned America into a house of cards and as we can see, it only takes one push from the outside to topple that house. This time, it's a virus. Next time, it could be a natural disaster... or a war... or some other type of national crisis. We need to rebuild America and create a more equitable society, with strong social programs and safety nets. Otherwise, this will happen again... and again... and again.

Trump 2016: Hillary must be corrupt, since the FBI are investigating her.

Trump 2018: The FBI must be corrupt, because they're investigating me.

Trump 2020: Obama must be corrupt, because... ummm... because... err...

I asked this simple question on YouTube today...

Name something good that Trump has done. And be specific.

Predictably, all of the responses from the Trump trolls were 100% unsubstantiated nonsense. Each reply was more hateful than the last. So I posted a follow-up, in response to a comment made by a fellow progressive:

Notice the rising animosity of the Trump trolls..? This is the one question that all of them fear. It really frustrates them, because they know they can't answer it factually. See, the only reason they cling to Trump is because they are hateful, frightened little people... and they believe that Trump somehow validates their hate and fear. The only responses we ever get to this question are mindless slogans, baseless rhetoric and childish whataboutism.

One troll actually mentioned Trump's ludicrous wall. "He's building a wall across the southern border." So I pointed out to the troll that, at the current rate of construction, Trump's wall won't be completed for another 48 years. Which is absolutely true. Predictably, he shot back something or other about Joe Biden... typically childish whataboutism, which is pretty much the only defense one ever sees from the Trump trolls. When I told him I didn't support Joe Biden, he stopped responding and scurried back to his safe place.

I guess my point is this: when presented with an opportunity to defend Donald Trump, none of his supporters are capable of doing so. I've been asking them simple questions like this for several years now and so far, not a single one of them has been able to rise to the challenge. That's very telling, dontcha think..? Their behavior fully supports my assertion that the ONLY reason these idiots cling to Trump is because he gives them the green light to be hateful, stupid little white trash bigots.

They sounds like a bunch of clueless "rebels" that want to tear down the system and have no real plans.

This began long before Trump moved into the White House. There seems to be a growing, unspoken desire out there to tear America down and then rebuild it.

It's sad that it's come to this.  I was never a fan of Hillary Clinton's centrism, but she would have been SCORES less damaging than Trump.

We need to ban the electoral college.

We need to ban the electoral college.

Oh yes, we do. And we also need to make it illegal for political candidates to accept anything other than public (and equal) funding of their campaigns.

No more private donations, no more corporate donations, no more PAC's, no more special interests. Absolutely no more of that crap.

Until those things are accomplished, there will be no such thing as a government of the people, by the people and for the people in America.

What can we learn from all of this mess..?

We can eliminate capitalism... that's what we can learn.

We can come to terms with the inescapable fact that late-stage capitalism places a higher premium upon commerce and profits, than it does upon the lives and the safety of human beings.

We can learn that a greed-driven system like ours encourages the sort of negligence and apathy demonstrated not only by the Trump administration, but also by Congress (both parties).

We can learn that corporate capitalism rewards greed -- and punishes honesty.

Everything that we have seen go wrong during the past 40 years has its roots in capitalism gone berserk. This is just the latest installment... but as usual, people need to start dying before they sit up and take notice.

Trump to order review of law protecting social media firms after Twitter spat: report

https://thehill.com/policy/technology/499871-trump-to-order-review-of-law-protecting-social-media-from-responsibility

QuotePresident Trump will reportedly sign an executive order on Thursday that mandates a review of a law that shields companies like Twitter, Google and Facebook from being held liable for the content appearing on their platforms after fact checks for the first time were added to two of his tweets.

Fucking with the internet, that won't end well.

More depressing but unsurprising proof that capitalism continues to fail us.

Good article. We saw something similar after 9/11: corporate America took advantage of the crisis and, with the help of Congress, gave themselves another big cash payoff.

Seven years later, after their unchecked greed crashed the economy and hurt millions upon millions of innocent Americans, Congress once again gave the corporate criminals another big cash payoff.

It seems that every time there's some sort of national emergency... whether real, or fabricated... the most striking response by Congress is to give super-rich people even more money. The rest of us are left to flounder in the mud that these corporate animals have created. It's as if the American people are not actually people anymore... we're just a resource, to be used and discarded by the predators at the top.

I know I tend to be more militant than most people. More than once, I've been accused of being a crazy extremist, after expressing my strong anti-establishment views. Well, get ready... because here I go again. Historically speaking, one thing -- and one thing only -- has proven to be 100% effective in putting super-greedy people on a short leash: KILLING THEM. Folks, trying to work within the system to curb their greed will always fail, because they've already purchased that system and tailored it to their own specifications. Elections won't work... boycotts won't work for very long... strikes won't work. The only thing that has ever worked... and remember, I'm drawing from all of human history here... the only thing that has ever proven to be 100% effective is to physically drag these motherfuckers out of their limousines and their ivory towers, put them in chains, haul them into the middle of a cheering crowd... and then cut their fucking heads off, for all the world to see.

Sounds psychotic, huh..? Fine... then tell me a better way. FACT: the rich and powerful will never voluntarily give up their wealth and power, nor will they change their behavior... not unless they fear for their own lives. We have seen this to be true over and over and over and over again, throughout the 10,000 year history of human civilization. When it gets this bad, it's time to kill the rich. If that sounds extreme and crazy, then so be it. But I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a more effective alternative.

Don't any of you yet understand why Trump is fighting against mail-in voting..? Why he has even gone so far as to advocate closing down the post office..? He plans to PREVENT the election from taking place in November. He'll cite COVID-19 as his justification for doing so. Of course, mail-in voting would completely negate that excuse... hence Trump is vehemently opposed to it, even though he himself has voted by mail numerous times during his life.

I predict that the riots will spread all across America. Not just because of the events in Minnesota... that's just a trigger.

The reason runs deeper than that. America has once again become a smoldering powder keg, waiting to explode.

This is 1968 all over again. The people don't feel properly represented by their elected officials. The ridiculous
disparity of wealth has caused a resentment that has been steadily building for decades. The police have run
amok and the justice system lets them get away with it. Young people feel as if they've been cheated out of
their future. Racism, class division, an overworked and under-paid populace, insane student loan debt...

...and Trump keeps pouring gasoline on the fires. Stupid asshole.

The Establishment is about to get a bloody nose.

EDIT to add: Looks like I was right. Here we are, 12 hours after I posted this, and demonstrations have occurred in several major U.S. cities. In Atlanta, protesters attacked the CNN building, smashing windows and assaulting the police. Things were more peaceful in Los Angeles... but who knows how long that will last. It's happening, folks. If history is repeating itself, then the next major event will be when the police or the National Guard shoot and kill protesters... which will trigger an even more massive and widespread series of riots, all over America. Let's hope that I'm wrong... but as Forum veterans should know, I've been expecting something like this to happen for more than a decade.

Just think of some of Trump's signature issues, back in 2016...

"I'm gonna impose a travel ban against all Muslims." Translation: it's okay to hate Arabs.

"I'm gonna build a big, beautiful wall across our southern border." Translation: it's okay to hate Hispanics.

"I think the cops should let those animals hit their heads, when they push them into the police car." Translation: it's okay to physically abuse black suspects.

Listen to way Trump always exaggerates his pronunciation of "China." Translation: it's okay to hate Asians.

In Charlottesville: "I think there were good people on both sides." Translation: I support white supremacists.

Every single person who supports Trump is a racist, period. They love Trump, because he makes them feel like it's okay to be openly racist again in America. He validates their xenophobia. The cop who murdered George Floyd is a Trump supporter, fer chrissakes. There's a photo of that sick pig wearing a MAGA cap a year or so ago. I could go on and on, but I think the pattern is clear. Trump has promoted racial hatred and class division for several years and now, this is the inevitable result. I honestly believe that Trump enjoys seeing this kind of chaos... it makes the silver spoon baby with the tiny penis feel powerful and important.

Adolph Hitler was the same. Amusingly, in private, Hitler enjoyed having Eva Braun pee on him. As for Trump, we've all heard of the infamous pee-pee tapes of Trump with some Russian hookers. Now that's a strange parallel.
